School media libraries in East Belgium offer an extensive range of services to support education, from reading promotion and research to media design and creative projects. These offerings are now compiled and highlighted in a new catalog titled 'IDEENreich – Offers from School Media Libraries'.
This catalog, the result of collaborative work among secondary school librarians-mediators, was presented on September 30 during a press conference. It is available in print and online versions. The initiative addresses a need expressed by teachers, who desired greater awareness of existing resources and improved accessibility.
'IDEENreich' particularly emphasizes inter-school collaboration. The librarians-mediators shared their experiences and ideas, thereby enabling the dissemination and development of offers beyond their own institutions.
The catalog presents 24 concrete projects and activities, illustrating how media libraries can enrich teaching. These proposals cover areas such as book discovery, media literacy, the production of original content, and the execution of creative projects. Media libraries also position themselves as partners for teachers' initiatives, assisting them in finding suitable media and materials.
The 'IDEENreich' catalog is available in school media libraries and teacher rooms, as well as in a digital version that includes additional materials for selected offers.
