The future of the ASBL Dora dorës looks brighter with the prospect of new premises adapted to its activities, located at rue Entre-deux-Portes n°12, in a revitalizing left bank area. The building will be acquired by the intermunicipal company Agilis, of which the City of Huy is a part.
The real estate project foresees Agilis purchasing the property for €340,000 and subsequently renting the spaces to Dora Dorës for a monthly fee. The acquisition would be guaranteed by the City of Huy. A guarantee would also be required from the ASBL, involving the annual allocation of at least €30,000 in the association's budget, solely for rent payments.
The ASBL Dora Dorës, accredited by the Walloon Region as a Local Integration Initiative, has a subsidized budget that allows it to allocate funds for rent as part of its activities. Currently, it occupies a building owned by the City at 3 avenue du Hoyoux, but this requires significant renovation and compliance work, leading to the consideration of its sale.
Founded in 2003 by Hamide CANOLLI, a refugee from Kosovo, the ASBL initially focused on Albanian women. Today, Dora dorës welcomes men and women from nearly 40 nationalities worldwide. Each year, about a hundred people enroll in French as a Foreign Language courses at various levels and the Vivre en Belgique (Living in Belgium) training. They also receive assistance and support from its social services and translation services, while children receive homework help and participate in socio-cultural activities.
This Monday, November 9th, the Municipal Council is invited to give its agreement to the proposed real estate operation.
