The Toponymy Commission of Huy examined proposals on Thursday from the Communal College to name two new roads and a walking path, which will be validated by the Communal Council in November.

A first road, a dead-end street in the Vieux Floricots / Pré Libert area of Tihange, will be named Rue Théo Thibaut. This honors Théodule Thibaut, the last bourgmestre (mayor) of Tihange and first president of the République Libre de Tihange. Born in 1920 and deceased in 1985, he was a significant figure in local communal and associative life.
The second road, named Rue des Fonderies (Foundries Street), will structure the future Felon-Lange development on the left bank, connecting rue du Petit Paris to rue Saint-Hilaire. The name references the area's industrial past, which included the Fonderie Porta, Fonderie Felon-Lange, and Fonderie Fallais.
Finally, the walking path opened in July 2025, connecting chaussée de Liège to rue des Cotillages, will be named Chemin Rosa Parks (Rosa Parks Path). This choice aims to address the underrepresentation of women's names in Belgian streets and promote the fundamental values of democracy, equality, and justice, honoring the American civil rights activist (1913-2005).
