The Citadelle hospital has opened the Centre Perinae at its Laveu site, a new facility dedicated to the multidisciplinary management of complex female pelvic and perineal disorders.

Urinary leakage, organ prolapse, pelvic pain, and bowel problems can significantly impact women's quality of life, especially when they occur together. To provide better support, the Centre Perinae brings together several specialists during a single morning to offer comprehensive and personalized care.
Given the variety of symptoms (difficulty retaining urine, feeling of heaviness, persistent pain, constipation, sexual dysfunction) that often require the input of multiple experts, the Centre Perinae was created to prevent patients from having to attend numerous consultations without a holistic view of their situation. It combines complementary expertise from gynecology, urology, and physical medicine and rehabilitation, in collaboration with specialized physiotherapy.
The patient pathway at the Centre Perinae is designed for ease. During one morning, each woman successively meets with a gynecologist, a physical medicine and rehabilitation doctor accompanied by a specialized physiotherapist, and a urologist. The professionals then share their observations to define the most suitable solutions, which are then discussed with the patient.
Various solutions can be considered, including specialized physiotherapy, non-surgical treatments, further examinations, or surgical intervention if necessary. Other specialists (gastroenterology, dermatology, psychology, sexology) may also be consulted.
The Centre primarily targets women with complex perineal disorders, particularly when multiple symptoms are associated, when problems persist or recur despite treatment, or when difficulties arise after surgery. The team pays close attention to the impact of these disorders on daily life, comfort, and quality of life.
