The City of Seraing honored its athletes at the 2026 Sports Merit Awards ceremony, held on Thursday, October 1st, at the Cultural Center, recognizing performance and passion.

On Thursday, October 1st, the Seraing Cultural Center hosted the 2026 Sports Merit Awards evening. This event aimed to celebrate the performances, passion, and perseverance of the athletes and teams that bring pride to the city.
Following the call for nominations and public votes, five trophies were awarded: the Individual Sports Merit to Edmilson Junior (football), the Team Sports Merit to the ESN masters synchro team, the U18 Individual Sports Merit to Martin Molle (Académie Karaté Leponce), the U18 Team Sports Merit to the mixed school cadet Intercercles team of Seraing Athlétisme, and the Handisport Merit to CAP2Sports (wheelchair handball).
Two additional distinctions were presented: the Prize for Recognition to Jean-François Fadda (Karaté Club Dragon Team) and the Jury Prize to Domenico Mezzatesta (Berzloy MMA Seraing).
Beyond individual and team awards, the evening acknowledged the daily support provided by clubs, coaches, volunteers, and families to the athletes.
A tribute was also paid to Martine Gerardy, Marc Wallendorff, and Dylan Kunnen, three departed figures from the local sports community. A moment of remembrance honored their memory and expressed support for their families and loved ones.
