If you believe you have spotted a nest, you are invited to report it to the Animal Welfare service via email at bea@seraing.be.
In autumn, Asian hornets may be observed on ivy flowers, a significant food source. However, the presence of a few individuals does not automatically mean a nest is nearby. Therefore, it is crucial to identify and report ONLY the nests.
Nests can appear as large round or oval balls and may be located in hedges, shrubs, or more discreet places, not necessarily at height. Caution is advised during gardening work.
If you spot a nest, keep your distance and never attempt to destroy it yourself. Report it promptly to the City of Seraing's Animal Welfare service, providing the exact location, the landowner's contact details (if known), and attaching photos or videos taken from a safe distance.
Once the report is verified, the nest will be handled for neutralization.
