The Eifel police zone will conduct intensified controls from November 16 to December 18, 2026 concerning the maintenance of hedges and plantings, the display of house numbers, and waste disposal along public roads.

Compliance with these regulations significantly contributes to the quality of life in our communities. All citizens are therefore urged to conscientiously observe the applicable provisions and thus contribute to road safety, the cleanliness of public spaces, and a well-kept local appearance.
Identified violations will be reported to the responsible sanctioning officer and may be subject to an administrative fine of up to 350 euros.
The general administrative police ordinance of the municipalities in the Eifel police zone includes, among other things, the following provisions:
1. Maintenance of Hedges and Plantings
- Hedges, shrubs, and other plantings bordering public roads or located in their immediate vicinity must be maintained year-round so that they do not encroach onto the roadway, sidewalk, or bike path, nor obstruct visibility or traffic.
- Traffic signs, electricity and telecommunication supply facilities, public lighting systems, as well as distribution boxes and poles must remain easily accessible and clearly visible at all times.
- Cuttings and other plant debris must be removed immediately. Sidewalks and bike paths must be left clean and swept after maintenance work.
2. House Numbers
- Each building must be equipped with a clearly visible and easily readable house number on the street-facing facade.
- If the house number is not sufficiently recognizable from the street, additional identification must be attached to the mailbox or another suitable location.
3. Waste Disposal
- It is prohibited to deposit, discard, or discharge waste, objects, or other materials on public roads, adjacent properties, or other public places.
- Soiling of roadways, sidewalks, green areas, or buildings by throwing or leaving objects is forbidden.
- The parking of vehicle wrecks or unroadworthy vehicles on public or private land is prohibited.
