The FAARE project, launched by the Groupe d’Action Locale (GAL) Burdinal Mehaigne with support from RENOBATEX, aims to assist citizens in improving their home's energy performance. This program offers theoretical and practical training, as well as the creation of a tool library to provide necessary equipment for renovation projects.
Following a personalized energy study, participants may be eligible for a free home audit under certain conditions. The training sessions, starting in October 2026, will last approximately three days and focus on insulating walls, attics, and roofs, as well as managing waterproofing and humidity. The goal is to empower citizens to manage their renovation projects independently.
The practical component includes "chantiers-écoles" (worksite training) at participants' homes, offering real-world challenges and additional hands for their projects. The tool library, established within the GAL, will allow participants to rent equipment such as drills, scaffolding, and saws at affordable prices, and to purchase consumables. Technical guides and on-site advice will accompany tool rentals.
Nearly 20 households have already joined the project, and the GAL hopes to train double that number by the end of the program's subsidy in December 2027. The FAARE project also aims to raise awareness about self-renovation, with the hope that participants will serve as examples to encourage others to improve their home's energy performance and comfort.
The RENOBATEX call for projects, launched by the Walloon Region in 2023 as part of the Recovery Plan, supports initiatives promoting energy sobriety and overcoming barriers to home energy renovation.
