On Sunday, October 25th, 2026, Wégimont Castle in Soumagne will host the traditional Apple Day. Organized by the local group from the Pays de Herve, this autumn event promises an immersion into local expertise, biodiversity, and conviviality, all within an exceptional setting.
From 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, visitors can explore a variety of activities focused on apples and orchards. The program includes tastings of old and local varieties, demonstrations of artisanal apple juice pressing (from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM), and pruning workshops at 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 3:00 PM. A fun trail through the conservatory orchard, with guided tours at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM, will offer a glimpse into the region's fruit heritage.
Discoveries of the garden and environment will also be featured. Visits to the shared vegetable garden are scheduled for 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Activities on pollinators, including a look at the beehive, as well as gardening workshops on composting and rainwater management, will engage all ages. Biodiversity trails, exploring local fauna and flora, will take place at 10:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 1:30 PM, and 2:30 PM.
Food and conviviality will be provided by a small catering service at democratic prices, highlighting local products, and fresh apple juice tastings. Various activities, such as a participatory biodiversity model, wooden games, fun activities about apples, bees, and birds, face painting, and a storytelling walk at 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM, will liven up the day.
Artisans will offer their products, including apples, vinegar, cider, honey products, cheese, market garden produce, as well as nursery plants and basketry. The event will be held at 76 chaussée de Wégimont, 4630 Ayeneux.
