As the October Fair approaches its opening on October 3rd, LETEC is adapting its operations and increasing vigilance around the tram line in the heart of Liège.

The setup of the October Fair, located in the city center immediately adjacent to the tram line, requires a specific configuration. The expected large number of visitors will daily be in close proximity to circulating trams. For LETEC, the challenge is twofold: to ensure the tram continues its role in facilitating travel to the city center and to enhance prevention against risks associated with the significant increase in pedestrian flow around the line.
The area's security has been prepared over several weeks through discussions among stakeholders involved in organizing the Fair. In particular, barriers are installed between Blonden and the Pont d’Avroy to better separate visitor flows from tram traffic. Pedestrian crossings and roadways remain accessible. Special attention is given to the traverse Destenay, which is particularly busy, with reinforced surveillance and adapted tram speeds during this period.
LETEC highlights that the Fair significantly alters the tram's usual environment. With crowds, attractions, music, and lights, numerous distractions can divert attention while trams continue to run just meters away. Therefore, LETEC reminds everyone of three simple reflexes: always cross at designated points, never cross the tracks directly outside of prepared crossings, even to save a few meters; stay behind the barriers that maintain a clear separation between visitor areas and tram traffic; and look before crossing, never letting phones or headphones make one forget their immediate surroundings.

The proximity of the tram line to the Fair also makes the tram a particularly convenient option for reaching the festivities and the center of Liège. LETEC therefore invites its passengers to take advantage of this possibility while maintaining good reflexes once they disembark.
