The City of Eupen has been recognized for the Scheiblerpark in the climate change adaptation category, during an event honoring 22 inspiring municipal projects from Wallonia's calls for projects.

Among the 22 nominated projects from Wallonia's calls for projects, the Scheiblerpark received an award in the climate change adaptation category. Since 2021, the Walloon Region has supported measures for nature, biodiversity, water management, and climate adaptation, thereby recognizing particularly inspiring municipal projects.
The former Scheiblerplatz was de-sealed and transformed into a meeting place. Green spaces and hollows allow rainwater to seep in, while the terraced steps along the bank of the Hill river provide more space for water. The project, initially developed before the 2021 floods, was revised and expanded with the support of the German-speaking Community.
The award was accepted by Valérie Winters-Radermecker, project author for WINTERS Landscapes, after she presented the project to the public in a Pecha Kucha format. The City thanks the involved companies Bodarwé SA and Leidgens, the municipal services that contributed to the park's creation, and the former municipal college for initiating and implementing the project.
The project received a subsidy of €987,092 from the Walloon Region as part of the "parks in urbanized areas" funding program.
