From October 1st to December 31st, 2026, the Federal Agency for Nuclear Control (AFCN) is organizing Radon Action 2026 to inform about the dangers of radon and encourage its measurement.

Invisible and odorless, radon is a natural radioactive gas that can accumulate in homes. Prolonged exposure increases the risk of lung cancer. The Verviers region is identified as one of the most affected areas in Belgium.
To check for radon in your home, you can order a detector for €20 at www.actionradon.be. This detector must be placed for three months on the ground floor, in the most frequented room, before being sent back for analysis.
If the result exceeds 300 Bq/m³, remediation measures can be considered to reduce radon concentration. Further information is available at www.actionradon.be and afcn.fgov.be.
