In October, the city of Huy is participating in Octobre Rose, highlighting the importance of breast cancer screening and supporting research.

In Belgium, 11,840 people were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2024, including 11,741 women and 99 men, averaging 32 new cases daily. Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among women, affecting 1 in 8 during their lifetime. However, encouraging progress shows a five-year survival rate of 93%.
To show its support, the City of Huy will illuminate its Town Hall in pink, joining the awareness efforts led by the non-profit Think Pink. Pink ribbons are available for purchase on the association's webshop.
The CHR de Huy reminds the public that the Mammotest is a free screening examination for women aged 50 to 69, affiliated with a Belgian mutual insurance, with no breast symptoms, and who have not had a mammotest in the past 2 years. Appointments are available weekly at the Policlinique du Mont-Falise.
The CHR de Huy also hosts a satellite Breast Clinic, in collaboration with the CHU de Liège, for follow-up and diagnosis. Self-examination is also encouraged to detect any unusual changes. To book an appointment: 085/27 27 31.
The CHR de Huy's satellite Breast Clinic will be present at the Health Fair in Engis on October 10th, from 10 am to 6 pm, at the École d’Hermalle-sous-Huy and the Centre culturel d’Engis. The event will offer information on screening, self-examination techniques, and available support.
