As part of the exhibition « When Paganini meets Ysaÿe, the devil's violinists », the Grand Curtius invited HELMo Mode students to engage with Paganini's universe and interpret it through textile creation.
Beyond his immense talent as a violinist, Paganini is surrounded by a legend fueled by his appearance, personality, and spectacular playing, earning him the moniker 'devil's violinist'. This dimension served as the starting point for the creative project.
After studying Paganini's life and work, students were encouraged to select elements from his world for their own creations, offering a personal interpretation of this character and how his image still resonates today.
The creations were made from second-hand clothing from the Liège boutique « Beaux Bizarre », transformed and repurposed through an upcycling approach.
This project introduces contemporary practices like second-hand and reuse into the museum, fostering an encounter between heritage, education, and current creation. The productions are the result of this collaboration between students, the museum, and Paganini's universe.
It is a creative and collaborative project bringing together HELMo Mode students and their international partners around sustainable fashion, textile recovery, and creation.
